The World War Two Classroom

We all know a shop that’s great to spend a pound in but what about elsewhere? How about one pound for a one hour experience of what it was like to be in class the day before you are evacuated?
Balsall Heath History Society has a fully equipped World War Two era classroom which is open for bookings to schools or any other groups who want to travel back in time. With the teacher and children costumed and in character throughout the last day at school is relived before the children are evacuated to a place of safety. Tables are chanted and the value of pounds, shillings and pence taught before identity labels are written using dip pen and ink and the children given their Identity Cards ready for the departure from Birmingham the following morning.
So for only a pound a head we’ll meet again some sunny day! To find out more contact Val Hart or Chris Sutton on 0121 464 1888 or email val.hart@stpaulstrust.org.uk
